Joni Mitchell
"Woodstock"
Joni Mitchell is easy to parody but maybe it's because
she's so iconic. By the way, she's actually Canadian. However she emerged
out of the New York folk scene and became a significant part of the cultural
movements happening in late sixties America. The lyrics to this song--inspired
by the Woodstock festival-- were recently described by Camille Paglia
as one of the most important English-language poems of the 20th century.
